ATC Success Story
West-MEC
The Challenge West-MEC serves students across 3,800 square miles of western Maricopa County, a region with a growing manufacturing sector moving toward smart automation. To prepare students for real careers as operators and technicians, the district needed industry-standard equipment, stackable certifications, and purposefully designed learning environments built to handle the unique demands of CTE. The Solution West-MEC partnered with ATC and Meteor to equip their automation labs with industry-grade robotics systems and connect instructors with certifications and training needed to stay current. Modular curriculum supports every type of learner, while the furniture and room layout were chosen specifically to promote collaboration and withstand the wear of a working CTE environment. The Impact Students graduate with certifications through Universal Robots and NC3, trusted by regional business partners to step directly into industry roles. The program's economic impact has been measured at $100–$140 million in the West Valley. As the district puts it, a student who has the skill set will have a good career, but one who can speak to that skill set will have an amazing one.
" Our students are able to get industry experience and be trusted to move into our business partners because of the equipment that we put them in front of ."
