Meteor Success Story

Building Learning Spaces for a New Generation in Sauk Centre

Rock-n-Roller Fōmcore Lightweight rocking seat

The Challenge The facilities of Sauk Centre Public Schools were showing their age. While the elementary school was updated in the 1990s, the middle and high schools dated back more than a half century. With growing enrollment and a clear desire for more flexible, collaborative environments, district leaders knew it was time to reimagine their schools for the next generation of learners. The Solution When they set out to modernize their facilities, district leaders envisioned much more than a basic facelift. Meteor’s design team worked closely with administrators and teachers to ensure that each space reflected how learning actually happens today. The Impact Feeling comfortable in their new spaces, teachers are reporting that students now work together more naturally, learning communication, conflict management, and problem-solving skills that extend beyond academics. The new spaces also support the preferred learning styles of different students — whether they want to sit, stand, or use a stool with a bit of wobble in it so they can “get their squiggles out.” That choice in flexible furniture is consistent across each campus, so students can benefit from it wherever they go.

Meteor Success Story

The Challenge Sligh Middle School has a motto and house system built around the words pride, positivity, and excellence, among others. But their media center didn’t reflect these ideals and failed to properly motivate their students to perform at their highest level. For as much as they tried, the center simply wasn’t coming to life the way they wanted it to. The Solution Leveraging a powerful partnership between Hillsborough County Public Schools, the Bullard Family Foundation, and Meteor Education, Sligh laid out their vision for a fully reimagined, vibrant, and inclusive learning hub that was + Flexible, Student-Centered + Multimodal for Diverse Learners + Interactive & STEM-Driven + True Community Hub The Impact Sligh Middle School has begun to see tangible results from their initiative to improve the school. Thaddeus Bullard, President of the Bullard Family Foundation, notes their ranking has improved from an F to a C, approaching B — with the media center playing a big role in that vision. Meteor Success Story

A New Cafeteria Experience at Chesterfield County Schools

The Challenge Chesterfield County School District’s food had always been wholesome and tasty, but the physical states of the cafeterias, while technically functional, were well past their prime. Some estimated that the dining furniture was close to twenty, if not thirty, years old. The Solution More than just replacing old tables and chairs, the district aimed to create dining spaces that worked for every student. The answer was to provide a mix of seating styles so every student ould find a comfortable spot. Round tables encouraged conversation. Booths offered a cozier, more private space for those who wanted it. The Impact One of the clearest differences is how much more open and airy the cafeterias feel, even though the room’s dimensions haven’t changed. Staff have also noted that the new setups create a more welcoming environment, one that makes students want to stick around after they eat to socialize with their friends. “It makes them feel safe,” says Lisa Baker, Food Service Admin Assistant. “It’s like they’re at home.”

Meteor + ATC Success Story

The Challenge Georgetown Independent School District (GISD) had a career and technical education (CTE) program, but it was quickly becoming outdated — so much so that teachers would bring in their own old furniture or pick something up at a garage sale. The Solution The community set out to build a single facility to house their entire slate of CTE programs and utilize brand new, industry-grade equipment and furniture. Georgetown worked alongside architects and interior designers to plan out exactly what they wanted, with the Meteor and ATC reps expertly balancing preferences with availability and budget parameters. The Impact While the building itself is impressive, what really stands out is how the spaces connect, with the furniture and equipment coming together to create a unified environment. The myriad of available chairs, couches, and other seating arrangements allow for all students to find a comfortable spot for learning, with the space still encouraging movement throughout each classroom. With each program now sporting industry-grade equipment, the students experience real-world simulations of professional environments.
