West-MEC
The Challenge West-MEC serves students across 3,800 square miles of western Maricopa County, a region with a growing manufacturing sector moving toward smart automation. To prepare students for real careers as operators and technicians, the district needed industry-standard equipment, stackable certifications, and purposefully designed learning environments built to handle the unique demands of CTE. The Solution West-MEC partnered with ATC and Meteor to equip their automation labs with industry-grade robotics systems and connect instructors with certifications and training needed to stay current. Modesto Junior College
The Challenge Modesto Junior College recognized a growing gap between local manufacturing workforce needs and the training available to students entering the field. Existing programs needed to be modernized to reflect what students would encounter on the job, with equipment and certifications aligned to real industry standards rather than approximations of them. The Solution MJC partnered with ATC to build out an industrial electronics and automation program equipped with brand-name, industry-standard training systems — the same components and devices students would encounter in the field. ATC served as a one-stop shop, supplying equipment and curriculum while providing ongoing local support. New certificates and courses were developed to advance student training in industrial robotics, positioning the college as a long-term workforce development partner for regional manufacturers. The Impact Students now graduate with hands-on experience on the exact equipment they'll encounter in the workforce. Instructors report students recognizing real-world components immediately (flow meters, PLCs, IoT integrations, etc.) because they've already built and tested them in the lab. The program also supports apprentices working toward journeyman certifications, deepening MJC's ties to the local manufacturing community.
